The new year is upon us and there has been an influx of bloggers posting on their human capital predictions for 2010 (myself included). I thought it would be fun though to try a different approach to the traditional prediction methods. So, I am bringing out the old Magic 8 Ball to help guide us into 2010. I’m asking it many of the burning questions we have. Here we go: · Will the economy improve in 2010? My sources say no · Will the unemployment rate drop and remain lower? As I see it, yes · Will more HR professionals embrace social media as a tool to use in their work? Without a doubt · Will conferences begin to incorporate more interactive sessions and panel discussions? Signs point to yes · Will more companies embrace work flexibility in 2010? Very doubtful · Currently there are jobs open and candidates do not have the skills for the jobs. Will we see candidates re-tool their skill sets in 2010 in order to take roles outside their main area of expertise? You may count on it · Will companies increase using temps or freelancers so they do not have to increase FT headcount? Outlook good · Will H1N1 hit our country harder in 2010? As I see it, yes · Will job boards completely decline as social media and job aggregators take their place? Very doubtful So, there you have it. While not the answers I would have personally given, they are the answers of the all-knowing Magic 8 Ball. Let’s check back next December and see if it was right. Oh, and if you have any burning questions for the Magic 8 Ball, add them to the comments and I’ll give you the answer. ———————————————————————————————– You can email her at trisham89@hotmail.com. |
