I have a confession to make - I love being the “Angel of Death.”

That’s my other, non-official title, the main one being “Human Resources Manager.” This current recession has me happier than a pig in slop. With all of the lay-offs, restructurings, and other RIFs going on, I’ve plenty of things to keep me busy these days. The staff is scared of me because they think I hold the power of life and death over them. I guess it makes sense. While the economy’s showing signs of life people are still wary. Unemployment rates are at or approaching double-digits across the country. People’s assets (home, investments, retirement funds) are fragile, to say the least. So I can’t blame them for their fear.
