I have a confession to make - I love being the “Angel of Death.” That’s my other, non-official title, the main one being “Human Resources Manager.” This current recession has me happier than a pig in slop. With all of the lay-offs, restructurings, and other RIFs going on, I’ve plenty of things to keep me busy these days. The staff is scared of me because they think I hold the power of life and death over them. I guess it makes sense. While the economy’s showing signs of life people are still wary. Unemployment rates are at or approaching double-digits across the country. People’s assets (home, investments, retirement funds) are fragile, to say the least. So I can’t blame them for their fear.

I’ve been putting off writing this post again and again. It’s not because I don’t love TV (you know I do!) but it’s because I can’t believe summer is over already and the new fall TV season is here. It’s funny, because although the start of TV season has become less and less tied to September, due in large part to the rise of cable channels and reality TV, fall still tends to usher in the biggest, most hyped shows of the year – especially with the traditional networks. |
