Holidays are over and it’s time to get back into shape. Last year, I decided to treat myself better and by that I mean eating healthier and exercising more. Working in the office environment and eating healthy can be often challenging so I look for help to stay on track and most often I find it on the Internet. For example, two months back I found this great website www.myfitnesspal.com - a diet and fitness community which provides members with free tools such as calorie counter and weight loss tracker as well as with online support in form of a community forums. This site helps me to set realistic goals and it allows me to follow my food intake and exercise routine.
It’s that time of year again for HR (or hopefully your organization’s your social committee) to pull together the perfect holiday office party. I have to admit it, no matter how many strategic planning documents I present in the boardroom, or how many layoff notices I have to deliver, the REAL stress I feel at work is always around the social functions I am asked to plan. It always seems so tough to please everyone, to think of every detail, and to stay on budget… And this holiday season it’s even tougher, as most organizations are looking for serious ways to trim the fat from corporate programs such as parties and team-building.
Earlier this year we offered some suggestions on starting an office produce co-op. With summer almost behind us (already!), those of us who have tried the produce delivery idea will be finding our baskets absolutely overflowing with the harvest. Even for those folks who are just weekend farmers’ market visitors, you might be wondering what to do with all those squashes, zucchini, peppers and cauliflower that are so plentiful these days. It makes sense to buy and use them – they’re super-affordable, packed with nutrients, keep well in storage, and great on our waistlines. So, here are few ideas for making the most of the fall harvest… |
